Hiatus

Whooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo it's been a while since I last updated.
I guess I've just been lazy and haven't really had anything to update about.
My Halloween weekend was pretty fun.
Did things different days, just hanging with family and friends.
Didn't get to trick or treat sadly but it's cool, had fun just going out.

I was Jacob from Twilight...a goddamn wolf!

Partying with the fam.

With the sisters, Tooth Fairy and Peg Bundy.

Partying with one of the five Deadmau5's that were at House of Blues.

Hey can I take a picture with you? I don't have a camera. HARHARHAR
And stuff like that.

Besides that, November has been pretty slow but I'm trying to do my thaaang which consists of working, schooling, chilling, trying to practice and yeah.
I recently got sick...pretty bad. I hear there's something going around but I had a pretty bad cough along with a runny nose. I'm getting a little better but some symptoms come and go.
Haven't been practicing as much as I want to. I feel like I'm getting more and more rusty which is a bad thing cause I want to really get better. I mainly took a break just to rest my wrists...they've been hurting for a while so I've been sessioning maybe once a week but I really needa get back into it for consistently.
It's also hard to practice because of a lack of a good practice spot. Everywhere is either really far or costs a lot of money..or both! It's hard to make some practices because of my schedule. I'm always jumping here to there on a daily basis and it gets pretty annoying. Gas = money.
Been busy with other things as well but I need to put more time and focus into them as well. I'm lagging with it in school, some people are moving ahead of me so I need to play catch up and study more. But then again they go full time...from like the morning to evening...and with my work schedule I can't do that. Just gotta use my time more wisely and put every minute in doing work. My teacher is also a troll.
Been trying to gear up for my 2nd Degree Black belt testing. It's hard to maintain training when you teach almost every day. I received my Black belt around 2003? 2004? So it's been a while since I last tested so I needa hustle and memorize my sheit. Testing is in December..GET SOME!
Also needa get back into working out...I used to just workout at home...doing some cardio and lightweight lifting just to keep in shape but lately I've been preoccupied with other things I haven't done any exercise at home in a while. So needa get back into that as well...dieting too.
My wisdom teeth are growing out and it's starting to irritate me. Needa get them out soon...I think all four...PUT ME TO SLEEP!
Yep so those are pretty much my predicaments I need to handle. Till then see ya next time ;]

DEUCE!

I sprinkle diamonds on everything I eat..

Kanye West has found an innovative way to keep his smile sparkling - by replacing his teeth with diamond dentures.

The rapper has replaced his bottom set of enamels with a row of gold and diamond implants to create a shiny new smile.

He posted a picture of his mouth on Twitter, writing, "My teeth are real diamonds... these are not fronts... I replaced my bottom row of teeth with diamonds."

West showed off his expensive new look in an appearance on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" this week and told the TV host why he felt he needed to replace his teeth.

He says, "I just thought the diamonds were cooler."

Gamblerz Arrested

"Eleven members of Gamblerz crew have been arrested in South Korea for purposeful injury to avoid military service. There are nearly 2 years mandatory service which would essentially ruin their careers but they dislocated their shoulders to avoid it to try and keep dancing. During service they are unable to practice sets or routines, so they intended to try and delay the service a few months more but their injuries were too similar and they were found out. They are facing jail time and still military service because of this."

Crazy.

9- Something you’re proud of in the past few days

Finally got through in helping my father's annual tournament.
He's been throwing the same tournament once a year for a long time.
My school gave a demonstration...I messed up a bit but whatever >.> still fun.
Worked pretty hard throughout the whole day, reffing, judging, and just trying to keep things in line. Fun stuff indeed.

Besides that I've just been doing the same ol' same ol'. The daily grind of going to school and work.
I actually haven't sessioned for a whole week cause of my wrist.
A lot of my crew are injured as well so we're just playing it safe until we're ready to hit the floor again..hopefully soon :]
I've been training more frequently in martial arts which is something I needed to do. Needa work on my 2nd degree already.
My schedule is pretty tight if I think about it.
School -> Work -> Session/Training -> Sleep.
I try to throw some playtime in there but gotta stay focused.
I guess that's something to be proud of...to pursue something creative and productive by will of choice.
I mean anyone can say they're too tired to go to practice or something after a long day's work but I'm glad I'm still making the sacrifice of pursuing my passions and not giving up completely like some other people I know.

Indeed.

08- Short term goals for this month and why

For October?
- Wake up early every day because I've been sleeping pretty late and sleeping in a bit late. Need to discipline myself to stick with my schedule.
- Train hard - Main activities I want to focus on are my dancing and martial arts.
I'm taking a few days off because of an injured wrist which still bothers me today but I can't let that stop me from practicing...needa get better!
And I've been getting back into training martial arts...hoping to test for my 2nd degree soon...getting there.
- Have fun - It's a new day! Let's enjoy it! Whether it's going out or just chillin' with friends...s'all gooooooood.

06- Favorite super hero and why

My favorite superhero would have to be Batman.

Ever since I could remember, I've always liked Batman.
I'd watch his cartoon show and the Tim Burton films and just enjoyed his style of no special powers bullshit and cool gadgets to take out the bad guys.
He was a cool detective/ninja type and I think he stands out from all other heroes out there.
I also think Batman had the dopest villains to face off with: Joker, Two Face, Mr. Freeze, Clayface, Croc and so on...all of whom were pretty badass in their own right.
I also enjoyed Batman because of his darkness and consider him to be the original anti-hero.
Can't wait for the third installment of the Nolan Batman franchise...hope it's gonna be sick.

2- The meaning behind your blog name

www.yongmoneyzhla.blogspot.com

YongMoney is my nickname I adopted not too long ago.
The "Money" is defined as oneself paying dues within whatever they pursue.
The money is non-existent because we pay our dues with our blood, sweat, and tears.
This alias is not just applied to the B-boy life but life itself.
Nothing's free and we must earn our stripes.

ZHLA: Zombie Hunterz (my crew), Los Angeles (my city)

And that is the meaning behind my blog name ;]

Yay for Numero 2!

01- A recent picture of you and 15 interesting facts about yourself

This is a picture of my homie Chris and I about a week ago; chillin' outside one of my favorite places....JJ's! And yes we are gangstas and we will kill you...with golf clubs.

30 - One last moment

Heh this was pretty fun.
Gave me something to write about and kept my blogging more consistent..
Perhaps I'll do another one with different subjects to write about.
Besides that maybe I should post more about my daily adventures that I encounter.
Needa carry my camera around more to make my blogs more interesting with cool pictures and videos ^_^
Anyway..as for one last moment?

And it's gone.

28 - something you miss.

The early days of when I first started learning how to break.
My friends and I would have weekly sessions at my homie's house.
It was tough because we didn't have anyone to teach us the fundamentals or foundation of B-boyin'.
Keep in mind this was before youtube came around and only a few sites had some vids up. This is the era when B-boyin' was underground.
We mainly found our inspiration through our own creativity as well as each other.
We did manage to find a few videos here and there.
I remember watching a lot of BOTY clips that included Expression and many French crews.
My friend also had a B-boy tutorial tape...it didn't really help us much but we worked with what we had.
Movies were also a big motivation for us.
I remember as a kid, I'd watch my cousin try to learn how to break and we'd watch films such as, "Beat Street", "Flashdance", and so forth.
I think the lack of resources helped me dig deep into my own creativity but it did make me lack the basics of Breakin'.
I didn't learn windmills until a year or two after I started dancing but it didn't really matter to me because I was more focused on creating something original and different than something that's already been done.
Nowadays I see there's a reversal of resources.
Now there's countless videos on the internet, many open session spots, workshops/seminars, jams, TV shows, and on and on. I think kids are spoiled with all this exposure because they have so many resources to turn to.
It's dope but I do see a lack of creativity within the new generation.
Don't be scared to do you.

Anyway this goes out to my original crew back in the day.

27 - Your favorite place

Any place where I'm allowed to express my mind and soul to the beat of a break.
A place where I can just chill with my friends or family comfortably.

But above all, my most favorite place would have to be my home.

26 - your fears.

Black people and spiders.

Hahahaha I kid, I kid.

Hmmmmmm my fears?
I've always had a fear of heights, I'm actually still scared to go on rollercoasters still..

But I think my biggest fear is becoming something I despise.

Shuffle

Zombie Dream

I had dream about zombies and it was so cool.
It was dope because it felt so real and actually made sense!
Pretty much, the world has been overrun by zombies for some time now and I remember I was a prisoner or arrested for something and taken to an abandoned infected city.
I was transported with other "prisoners"...not sure why we were taken..something about taxes or something hahaha.
But anyway! The head honcho guy told us that we were all going to be given an opportunity to get our freedom back. We have to escape the city by any means necessary, using vehicles, weapons, and so on and the last one standing would get evacuated and a million dollars. Battle Royale much?
So we were left inside a skyscraper and set free to make our escape.
I had a shotgun...not sure how I got it but I was running through the building trying to get to the lower levels. Another prisoner suddenly attacks me because he wanted my weapon but I fight him off and make a run for it with him still on my trail.
I suddenly see one of the infected taking a run at me...I guess these were running zombies -_-
I take shot with my shotgun but the zombie continues running...I take another shot but she's still coming my way...I guess I wasn't aiming right.
She lunges at me but I dodge just in time and she ends up attacking the prisoner who attacked me.
I continue on, making my way down the stairs and encounter more zombies.
Instead of shooting them I use the butt of my shotgun and whack them across their heads since I can't aim right anyway. This method seemed to be more efficient since they were going down permanently.
I see more coming after me and I finally make it to the lowest level where I see a group of survivors waiting in the lobby.
They spot me and one of them tell me to duck.
I duck just in time and he sprays his assault rifle at the horde behind me.
I guess these survivors were good guys..
It was a black guy, a woman, another dude, and an Asian couple.
The black guy reminded me of Ving Rhames...
He told me to aim at their chests instead of their head because when you shoot, the kick of the blast pushes the gun up...not sure if that's true or not but it made sense in the dream!
Anyway we all make our way outside where there were a few parked cars outside.
I'm guessing the white dude was a car thief because he broke into a car and pulled up in a Prius.. haha I don't know.
Anyway we all make our way inside the car and exit the building into the city of the dead..

Then I woke up.

25 - a first.

The first time I ever snuck into a girl's house was pretty exciting but terrifying when we almost got caught because her mom came home early from work.
Things were going good but then we heard the jingle of her keys penetrate the door knob and this girl sprung up like a ninja and got dressed as fast as she could.
She turned on the radio to block out any noises we could make while trying to plan an escape route.
She dashes over to the window and sees a plastic cover stapled into the frame.
With all her might, she rips the plastic off and slides the window open.
She pushes me through and goes to talk to her mama from coming into the room.
She must have planned this or something because she did this all within like a minute.
My heart was still pounding even when I was out and away. Scary moments.
My shoes weren't even all the way on and I kept thinking I forgot stuff in there.
But a clean getaway it was.
Besides that I've had a lot of other firsts...

2nd and 3rds.

24 - Something that makes you cry

I don't know what makes me cry.
Sad and tragic things can make me cry.
I believe the hardest I've ever cried was when I was 16 years old and I found out my little cousin and two aunts passed away in a fire.
I was so sad because there was other bad things going on in that month as well and with all that added up, I just couldn't take it anymore.

So tragic incidents such as that can bring a tear to my eye.

Blogger Alter Egos

It's funny how you know the happiest, most joyous people out there...but then you go on their blog and they're like a completely different person with way too many skeletons in their closet..
Why is it they say the most personal things on the internet where everyone can see instead of saying it to the person it was meant for?

I ponder but my mind does not speak.

22 - Something that upsets you

Something that upsets me...
To be honest a lot of things can upset me.
I suppose the number one thing on my upset list would be people who take things for granted in life.
Rich, snobby people who never have to work for something they want.
They are simply just given it.
And when it comes to that, they still have the nerve to bitch and complain about the smallest detail.
"I wanted a 2011 BMW blah blah but I only got a 2010! WAAAAAH"
"My parents wouldn't give me $300 to buy some Evisu jeans! T________T"
And yes folks, there are people I know who say this shit.
I'm not saying I'm the most perfect human being because I myself give into materialism as well...not as bad as other people I know but honestly people should be grateful for the simple things in life.

TOO MUCH HYPE

21 - Another moment

Another moment?
Let's take a moment then.
Close your eyes and slowly breathe in and out through your nose.
Empty your mind and just relax.

Feel better?

20 - This month

This month so far has been pretty chill.
It's September but I've just been sticking to the usual grind between school, work, and practice.
I've been hanging out with my homies from high school more often which is cool because I haven't seen them in a long while.
Recently went camping over the weekend, it was dope to get away from the city and enjoy the wonders of nature. Hope to go again soon.
Been trying to keep up with practice but at times it gets hard to work it into your schedule but as a b-boy I gotta find the time and sacrifice to get a session in.
Starting to get back into training in martial arts again...took a long break after my knee injury but now that I'm healing, I'm beginning to train more.
School is the same...honestly I really want to just finish up already but I'm lagging just because it's getting very repetitive and boring, just modeling teeth and what not but still pushing through with it.
Work is also the same as well but I'm enjoying it. I'm still learning and shall always consider myself a student first before a teacher.
Besides that, I'm trying to just keep my free time into doing something positive or productive but there are days where I just wanna chill and keep to myself and other days where I just hangout with my friends and go on a random adventure.
Busy is good.
and this month ain't even over yet!

Peace, Love, and...

19 - Something you regret

I try to live a life with no regrets...each choice I make is something I must stand by even if I end up paying for it in the end.
Each mistake, solution, choice leads you to develop your character and learn more about life.
We learn from our mistakes and we should never regret a choice we make because it is up to us to live by our decisions.
It may work out for us and it may make things worse; the point is you can't waste time regretting the decision you made.
Instead invest your time and energy into how you can make things better by not repeating your decisions that made things go sour.

Motivation.

What is greatness?

18 - Your favorite birthday

I've always had a certain tradition growing up when I had my birthdays.
I'd have a kickback at my place, BBQ in the back along with a bounce house to let our immature child break out and also have people just chill inside the house whether it was just playing games or hanging.
Every year was memorable because my friends would just come, hangout and have a good time.
I believe my 17th birthday was among my favorites just because I remember a lot of my friends coming over, random breakdancing madness, bounce house UFC fights, females, Korean BBQ?!?, and so forth and so on.
My 20th birthday was fun as well just cause it was my first time going to the shooting range so it was a new experience for me ^_^
Good times I'll always miss but that don't mean my birthdays suck now ;]
Hope to plan something nice this year :]

CAMPING!

So this past weekend I went on a camping trip to the Cleveland National Forest near San Diego with Tam, Matt, Chris, Corey, and Angela.
I haven't been camping in ages so I was quite excited when I heard about it.
Overall the trip was pretty fun but it just felt like it went by really fast!
The first day started a bit rocky...some people lagged and we had to stop by here and there which delayed our arrival to the campsite.
We arrived at the site around 8ish - 9pm when we were supposed to get there at 5 but s'all good. We set up our tents and started a fire then went to sleep.
The next day, I awoke to the blazing sun beating down on us in our tent.
We ate breakfast and got ready to go fishing in Lake Cumacaya?! I forgot but something along those lines.
We pretty much just spent the whole day fishing but I caught two of them fishies!
And I ate him!...I ate his lil face! and I ate his little wagging tail...
I also ate the little mess he made on the floor...YOU HEARD ME! ... (Simpsons reference >_>)
Got a really bad sunburn on my back and neck...it hurts like FIYAH!!!
Anyway, got back and started up another fire and pretty much just ate a lot of food and sweets and sat around the fire, talking about life and love to the sounds of acoustic guitars.
It was a pretty tiring day so we knocked out pretty late.
Sunday was already here so I woke up again around 8am and got to eating breakfast.
Matt and I wanted to go hiking but there were no trails nearby...we either had to drive to them or pay to hike...so I was disappointed we didn't get to cross that activity off my list :[
We started packing up all our things and we dropped off Angela then Matt and headed back to the hood.
Overall it was dope to just get away from the city and enjoy the outdoor wonders of nature. I've always enjoyed camping ever since I was a kid so it was dope to go again.
Perhaps we'll plan another camping trip soon...hopefully more efficient but this trip went pretty well. I'm thinking Yosemite...that place is epic.
It did feel like it went by really fast...so hopefully we'll plan another day or get to the campsite earlier to do more things because we only had one full day of camping and we mainly spent it just fishing in the lake.
So hopefully next time I'll include some hiking in the trip...but that was pretty much my weekend!
Now back to the grind.

Some pics from fishing.

Matt is the only one wearing his life vest.

Ayayaya Miss Saigon..

We all caught at least one fish!

Except Corey..

HOORAY!

17 - Your favorite memory

I have too many favorite memories from just being a kid and playing with the other kids on my block. Riding our bikes and causing trouble, hollering at chicks too stuck up to even notice our presence of awesomeness!

To when I first started getting into Breakin' and my friends and I would have weekly sessions in my homie's garage then chill somewhere after, causing ruckus and hollering at chicks too stuck up to even notice our presence of awesomeness!!

Sharing special moments with those special someones back then even though at first they were too stuck up to notice my presence of awesomeness!!!

That girl I tried to holler at last night but she was too stuck up to notice my presence of awesomeness!!!!

All them times..

16 - your first kiss.

My first kiss was when I was about 15 years old.
It was with my first girlfriend in the summer of 04...at that time we weren't in a relationship...just dating and hanging out and what not.
One day we decided to go on an adventure around town and ended up hanging out at her old elementary school.
We were sitting on the steps of one of the buildings and having a casual conversation and she gave me a small peck on the cheek ^____^
I pecked her back on the cheeky...and I contemplated for a moment if I should go in for the kill....THE LIPS!?!
I came in, eyes closed and all I remember was a lot of wetness and what not.
It was quite the experience being that I had no experience...and felt like a noob >_<
I was a little embarrassed because I honestly didn't know what I was doing but I just rolled with it and let the butterflies swirl in my stomach.
When I went home, I was happy but surprised: 1. being that I finally got to kiss a girl! 2. That, that girl turned out to be that girl...really random now that I think of it because I would have never pictured myself dating her.. and 3. I thought I was ugly and no one would want to kiss me.
And there you have it...my first kiss.

13. This past week

This past week was very exhausting that consisted of a lot of school, work, teaching, practice, eating, and all other types of ill shit.
Every morning to the evening was about the same: school and then headed over to work.
I actually started training in martial arts again; I took a long break after my knee injury but now that it's pretty much healed *knocks on wood* I think I'm ready to get back into it.
Hung out with some old friends from high school which is something I haven't done in a long while so it was dope to see them and catch up on old times.
Hit up practice...not as much as I wanted to but when I went I practiced hard...because I was sweating a lot...so yeah >_>
Anyway! Met some new friends! Soooooo dreeeeeeeamy T____T
And last night I went to an 80's club...first time I've been although no one was even dressed 80's!!! They played boring 80's music..I wanted some Michael Jackson or some Prince man! NEEDA GET DOWN TO THAT! But it was cool.
Open bar and congrats to us being the only Asians in the spot! Good times ^_^
Then ate at JJ's after...fuckin' crowded...congrats to us being one of the Asian groups in the spot! I guess JJ is more popular since that song came out about Monterey Park with the guys who can't rap, rap about JJ's..
Then headed home and knocked the fuck out.
Woke up and HAPPY LABOR DAY TO ALL!!! I'm so glad I don't have school or work today...needed a break to just relax and do my thing.
Family BBQ for the nguyen and hopefully hit up a sesh later on tonight. LET'S GET PRODUCTIVE! LET'S GET CREATIVE!

12. What's in your bag?

What's in my bag?
That's kinda lame BUT whatever I said I'd do these things so I guess I better get crackin'.
Ummmm I have two bags: One for school and the other for B-boyin'
My school bag is filled with text books, notebooks, pens, pencils, and all other types of ill shit.
My B-boy bag is filled with deodorant, a towel, water bottle, elbow pad, knee brace, usually a clean t-shirt so I can change after practice, a beanie, and a bandanna.
Yeah.
I don't know why people would actually read this post because it's pretty trivial but whatever!

11 - what you ate today.

I was a bum today because all I ate was cereal in the morning...Cinnamon Toast Crunch to be exact and went to JJ's after session and ate soup with rice...and a little bit of my friend's steak.

THAT IS HOW YOU SURVIVE MY YOUNG FRIENDS!

10 - what you wore today.

I wore a snow beanie, levi's jeans, reeboks, socks, boxers, proverse tee, and a members only jacket.

I got mad swagger.

9. - Your Beliefs

This is going to be an interesting and pretty unsure post.
I grew up a Christian; I was baptized as a Methodist when I was about 5 years old and my mother took my sisters and I to church every Sunday growing up.
So I was raised to believe in God, Jesus, and so forth.
The sermons were hard for me to understand because the pastor delivered them in Spanish! Haha
But anyway as I got older I stopped attending church, not because I hated it but because I suppose I just lost an interest in going.
I studied other philosophies and religions in class, reading books, and just meeting new people and I feel I've grown to become an agnostic. I feel that I cannot stick to one set of ideals because I do not want to stay limited to one thing.
When it comes to many things, I am a very neutral person who cannot pick one side.
I am not the type to talk bad of anything just because it is different.
I respect all other forms of religion and beliefs and judge a person based solely upon their own personality.
So if a Christian person is spewing hatred towards Jews, I don't judge a whole religion based on this one person's actions because he does not represent the whole Christian community.
And this goes for any other religion...unless one religion does spew hatred for one another then I may sway the other way >_> BUT! In general, I try not to judge.
Yes, there are many differences between religions but just because something is different doesn't make it wrong.
I have Atheists as friends who have their own set of beliefs and I respect them as well.
I mainly like to keep to myself because I honestly don't have a strong opinion about beliefs. I respect all opinions as long as they're delivered in a logical and legitimate way.
If you're just a close-minded individual who automatically neglects all new forms of ideas or beliefs then I won't bother wasting a minute on listening to you.
This goes to all things I do in life.
When b-boys speak of other dances such as Hip Hop choreography or Jerkin' or something as whack and not real dancing then I think they just don't understand.
Many people think B-boys are just a bunch of tricksters who just spin around on the floor but there is an essence to it. People just need to understand it so I try to take the time to understand their craft.
There is no perfect religion, race, philosophy, dance, martial art, this or that...everything is different and has its own beauty to it; a person just has to find the true essence of what it represents.

In a nutshell:
"I'm not better than you, I just think different."

8 - A moment

Are the countless hours of sacrifice, pain, practice, sweat, and exhaustion worth a moment of glory?

Yes.

7. Your best friend(s)

My best friends would have to be Chris Wu, Matt Tran, and AC.
All of whom are very good friends I've known for many years.
Ima always have their backs no matter the distance.
I met AC and Chris back in 1st or 2nd grade and we would just play a lot of random games like Pokemon, Gundam Wing, Zombies, and other shit that included a lot of fighting and gun shooting haha.
I met Matt Tran in about 9th grade through Chris and we clicked right away because he shared a lot of the same interests and had a similar sense of humor.
We hollered at chicks, got hit up by gangstas, raved at dances lol, Breakdance, rap, make movies, get into trouble...$230 citation for ditching!??!?! Shoplift shit back in middle school >_< party, and just chill and share a good laugh.
Pretty much the same stuff we do now! LOL jk except for the hollering of chicks, breakin', rapping, making movies, party and bullshit. And just chill.

If I could though I would make all my friends my best friends though! ;] Haha

6. Your Day

It is now 4:48am on a Monday.
I have to get up in about 4 hours for class so I should get some shuteye soon but honestly I want to post about my day because today is one of those days where I just had a good time hanging with the homies.
So last night I got in late from SD so I woke up around noon today when I was supposed to wake up earlier to help out my mom at my dad's school for a seminar.
She already told me she got it done but I arrived anyway to take a sparring seminar with Bill Wallace.
If you don't know who Bill Wallace is, he's a pioneer in competitive sparring in Kickboxing and Karate.

He used to train at my father's studio back in the day so he taught a workshop about sparring tips.
I decided to take it and it was enjoyable. He gave us good stretching tips to get more flexible and a lot small tips on how to distract and enclose distance.
Needa get back into training TKD too.
After that headed home and ate some leftover Chinese food.
Watched the second half of Inglorious Basterds on TV...forgot how good that movie was and called my homie Chris to see if he wanted to chill since he just got back from Asia.
I met up with Chris, Tam, AC, Corey, and Stanley...all good friends I knew in high school. I don't think I've been in a big group of high school friends for a long while so it was cool for everyone to come out and chill.
We went to Cha first, played a few rounds of Big 2 while catching up on current events. Then moved the party over to Garden Cafe because we got hungry.
There we started talking about past events and the high school dramas that unfolded.
I forgot about so much stuff that happened back in the day, I was cracking up so bad.
Just talked and joked the whole time we were there and it was dope to share those memories with the homies.
Needa have one of those hangouts again because it really has been too long since we chilled together.
A great and unexpected way to end the day...just chillin' with my boys and reminiscing and catching up on what's new.
Now gotta get back to the grind.
Till next time ;]

5. Your definition of love

To me love is a hard thing to come by.
It's something you cannot define in words because it's something you must encounter and experience. I honestly feel everyone has their own definition of love.
When people speak of love and announce their love for their significant other...I ponder in my mind if they really know what they're talking about.
I remember in my younger days I wasn't so pessimistic about the subject because I didn't know what love was...but now that I have gone through a few relationships and see the tragedy love can bring to a person; I question if love is really what it's built up to be.
I do believe in love but I feel it is something you shouldn't say if you truly do not mean it.
I think love takes time like many other things in life and when you truly do feel you are in love then by all means go for it...just be real.
Don't be so corny with the subject because love should not be associated with "puppy love"...love is something grown and mature.
If you've been dating a person for like a month and you already announce your love for that person then I believe you're jumping the gun and rushing your emotions.
I try not to play around with the L word because it is a strong word that can lead to ultimate bliss or tragedy in one person's heart.
That's the gamble you take when you take part of the subject.
All in all, I have no definition of love. I'm still learning it myself and perhaps one day when I find the right girl I'll get back to you on that but until then...

I'm in lesbians with you.

World of Dance: San Diego

Just got back World of Dance in a Whale's Vagina.
Woke up at 9am and got ready.
Picked up Mike then Willy and his friend Maddy.
Then we made our way to SD, the car ride was pretty cool but we did hit traffic so it was slow at some points.
Got there early anyway and found parking near the venue.
I originally thought the event was going to be in the SD Convention Center but it turned out to be in the SD Counture or something? So it was a lot smaller than I had expected.
Eh, whatever.
Met up with Jenn and Julie and two of her friends at the front. Didn't get to hangout with them as much though during the event :[
Ate Panera's...good sandwiches yet very filling.
Then went in line to get in the event.
Waited for about 2 FRIGGIN' HOURS! It was ridiculous, just sitting there.
Finally get in and find out the bboy event was outside.
Ventured inside the building and saw a few vendors here and there and the main stage where the choreo competition was taking place.
There was also a dance floor for jerkin'/dougie/poppin' I suppose.
A lot of SD/OC bboys showed up. I saw a few LA heads so Mike and I just decided to enter the 2 on 2's but I really didn't feel ready because lately my practice has been kinda off. Needa focus on getting better but the past week no matter how much I forced myself, it still seemed unsatisfying to my taste.
Needa improve and today gave me that motivation to do so because I see that a lot of people have gotten better.
Out of about 30 crews, the judges would only pick a Top 8 so chances were very slim we'd make it to the next level but it's cool because like I said before, I didn't feel ready.
For my prelim round, I felt satisfied because I was focusing on just staying clean and executing nicely but next battle ima try to dish out some new stuff.
Anyway on with the highlights of the event.
Jerkin' vs. Breakin'! HAHAHA I knew this was going to happen, the jerkers had a better dance floor inside the venue and the bboys slowly started creeping onto it to warm up as well. Soon a cypher formed and then the clash began!
I didn't take part of the event because for one thing why would I want to battle jerkers? I did record some of it though so hopefully I'll post it up in the future but let's just say it was pretty heated. It's just funny how serious bboys can get and this battle is funny indeed.
Moving along, the new school battles were all right. I honestly feel if my squad from the last WOD entered this event, we could've made it far but it was dope to see new heads and people improving their skills.
Didn't stay to watch the final battle nor did I stay for the 2 on 2 final so you're gonna have to look up on youtube or something to figure out who won what, where.
Justdoit was crazy in his exhibition...it's doper to see him in person because his flow and musicality is very on point..very unpredictable.
I think the best battle of the night that got me hype was the crew exhibition battle between Battle Born and Bang Uh Rang. Both sides came out hard...definitely check that one out when you can.
Another highlight would be that I didn't get any of my shit stolen! Yaaaay!
I didn't seriously injure my knee again! Yaaaaaaaaay!
Bought two spin beanies! Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay! Now I can magically do headspins!

And the lowpoints would probably be:
- The long ass wait in the line to get in.
- Small venue...

Uhm...that's it!
I also peeped some of the choreo performances...some were pretty dope but others were weird fashion show/walking around during music and posing shows...yeah, I don't know.
Then left the event and dropped off Willy's friend in Irvine and ate at JJ's.
Came home and here I am!
I will probably update with pictures and videos when I get the chance but for now...enjoy my words with your imagination!!!

Oh yeah! And peep this..

Best song for roadtrips! HAHAHA

...WOD Pomona was better.

4. A habit you wish you didn't have

The number one habit I wish I could get rid of is procrastinating way tooo much.
I'm probably the biggest procrastinator you'll ever come across and I really want to punch myself in the nuts for being so lazy sometimes.
Really needa get over that habit and get shit done.

3. A picture of you and your friends

Myself and my crew, Zombie Hunterz after our very first exhibition battle against Suicide Kings at the first Breakfest event in 2008.

2. Your first Love

When I was about 15 years old I fell into my first serious relationship with a girl from my high school.
I’ve known her since middle school but we were never really in the same group of friends but we were all associated with one another.
I forgot how but somehow we began talking on a consistent level, mainly through AIM and we decided to hangout one fine afternoon.
A few more hangouts followed up and I ended getting my first kiss and we finally confessed our feelings for each other.
I was actually surprised because we were very different but I guess opposites attract...and I thought I was ugly.
We got together shortly after and we went out for about six months. Within that time span, I fell in “love” but I still contemplate whether it was just puppy love.
We threw out the L word after a few weeks of seeing each other and we’d say it to each other every day.
Of course I was heartbroken when we split being that she was my first girlfriend but time heals all wounds and I feel your first relationship really teaches you that love is not an easy thing to come by.
As I look back I saw that we weren’t right for each other but I still have good memories and wish all the best.
I have no regrets because life is always filled with ups and down.
So they say, “It is better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all.”

1. Yourself

I realize my recent posts have very little to do with me or my outlooks on life.
Usually they're just videos that inspire to live, learn, and love which is something I want to share with the rest of the world.
To show how we can find inspiration from anything and everything.
But I've decided to take it upon myself to write more about me.
I saw my friend post this on his blog to keep his blogging more consistent so I decided to do the same.

- 30 -
Day 01 - yourself.
Day 02 - your first love.
Day 03 - A picture of you and your friends
Day 04 - A habit that you wish you didn’t have
Day 05 - your definition of love.
Day 06 - your day.
Day 07 - your best friend(s).
Day 08 - a moment.
Day 09 - your beliefs.
Day 10 - what you wore today.
Day 11 - what you ate today.
Day 12 - what’s in your bag.
Day 13 - this week.

Day 25 - a first.
Day 26 - your fears.
Day 27 - your favorite place.
Day 28 - something you miss.
Day 29 - your aspirations.
Day 30 - one last moment.
Should keep me busy right?

So let's begin with #1 - Yourself

My name is Yong.
I was born January 17, 1989 in Los Angeles, Ca.
School, work/martial arts, and dancing are three things that take up most of my time but when I'm free I also enjoy designing clothes, watching/making movies, writing, drawing, kickin' freestyle flows with the homies, hiking, and just chillin' out.
I work part time as a martial arts instructor at my father's Tae Kwon Do school.
I love to dance. I represent the infamous Zombie Hunterz crew primarily from Los Angeles, California where I go by the alias, "YongMoney".
The "Money" is defined as one who is paying dues within whatever they pursue. In my case it is Breakin' and life in general...gotta earn my stripes.
I'm known to be very shy and usually keep to myself or I can be very loud and obnoxious, it really depends on my mood, who I'm with or how comfortable I feel.
Either way, you shouldn't really take anything I say too seriously because I give into sarcasm about 75 percent of the time but I do mean well ;]
It's hard for people to tell whether I'm serious or joking but I'll confirm with you if you really can't tell.
I love to reference a lot of movies...usually cult classics but I dip and dab into different genres.
I try to keep an open mind when it comes to new things.
This is also applied to my tastes in music.
I love all types of music and when people ask what my favorite genre is I can only answer with, "whatever sounds good to my ears."
I do not like to limit myself to certain things and that applies to all aspects in life.
I come from a cultural background consisting of Korean/Cuban/American influence.
My father was born in Korea and immigrated to the States in his teens and my mother who is Korean/Chinese was born in Cuba and also migrated to the US in her teens.
Both met and the rest is history.
I cannot speak Korean but I'd love to learn...so any volunteers are welcome :]
Besides that I love Korean food ^___^ Cuban food and American food...but I can eat anything!
And lastly...I like to hunt zombies.

One shot.

I've always found this documentary so inspiring through the art forms of life.
It always inspires me to push the limits in everything we pursue...Breakin', martial arts, just life in general.
Perhaps when I get more time on my hands I'll start taking up Kendo again.

One shot. One kill.

"To defeat yourself, you have to fight pain, pressure, and hardship. To do the right thing is tremendously difficult and demanding."

Shut up and break.

Soul Searching..

Just recovered from a fever I had last week. By the weekend I was feeling better though so I figure why not do what any other person would do...
Go hiking! YEAH!
I've been meaning to go hiking for quite some time now because it's been something I've loved doing since I was a kid.
My good friend Matt invited me and Bear to go this Sunday so go we went!
We hiked at Eaton Canyon in Pasadena, it was doope.
Good exercise, jumping over rocks and shit, got in touch with nature and within ourselves...
Meditated under a waterfall...fuckin' cold and the rocks on the bottom HURT! but nonetheless it was enjoyable.
Climbed a fuckin' mountain!...or part of it..pretty damn high I must say haha.
Almost got killed by a huge ass rock rolling down the mountain...
Yee! I'm definitely gonna go again...hopefully get more peeps this time. I shall let you know!
Next time I needa bring some sunblock though I think I got sun burned and a small rash from the heat -_- YEEEEEEAH!!!!!!

So it begins...

Let's go pussy!

Meditated under that sheeit

I just need my...SCISSORS!

PASSED THE TESTS OF MAN!

AIN'T NUTTIN' TO FUCK WIT!

Chillin...on top of a mountain!

You can't run Bear...

Happy Birthday to my father

My mother and sisters planned a surprise birthday party for my father at a 1930's club/restaurant known as the Cicada Club.
Shit's pretty high maintenance...$65 a person.
Many of my father's martial arts associates attended, people I train and work with came.
It was was pretty dope overall. Fun weekend actually..with Socheat's/Matt's birthday celebration the day before. Maybe I'll post a blog on that too but I don't think I was in any pictures or anything soooo SHIT WOULD BE BORING!

Knee Injury: THE RETURN

Last night I went to practice and ended up re-injuring my knee -__________-
Was having a practice battle and I guess I got too confident thinking my knee was 100%
Ended up banging my knee pretty hard...knee went numb and I rested right after.
It recovered shortly after but it still ached.
Felt like when I first injured at WOD but a LITTLE less painful...I really want to know what kind of injury it is and what I can do to make it heal faster...and how to avoid getting these retarded stupid ass injuries.
Looks like I'll have to take some more time off to let it heal...friggin' sucks because I was already taking time off to let it heal in the first place...
I was starting to do footwork again and all this and that...looks like I gotta lay off some shit right now.
Time to retire knee drops...I think that's how I fucked up my knee at World of Dance and that's how I messed it up yesterday night.
It was almost healed too! It was like 85% almost healed and looks like I gotta start all over. Urrrrgh.
Limping and can't put pressure on it...looks like its back to flares and airchairs...

Anyone got any tips as to how to heal a busted knee.
